CNAs are a special part of any health care team. They help doctors and nurses do their jobs well. Most CNAs are do direct patient care or patient care services. This is a job that is always open. A hospital job has a lot of responsibilities. CNAs who work in hospitals have to care for the patients directly by helping them with things like going to the bathroom, bathing, and changing the bed. In a medical office the CNA often does double duty working at the desk and helping the patient with care. Most times they are required to assist the doctor, clean patient rooms, and take vitals. CNAs can also work privately. They can become home care assistants and work with people individually. Home health aids sometimes require another certification but most times do not. All of the duties you have in a nursing home or hospital can also be done at home. Some home health aids will run errands or do light cooking and cleaning as well.
